Abortions in mice??? Empty Abortions in mice???

I read that mice can very easily abort a litter, even by just rubbing there bellies on something like a shelf or a wheel. Is this true? Did this ever happen to anyone?

Personally, I don't think that's true at all. Years ago I worked at a pet store and have worked with rescue mice and I've seen heavily pregnant mice handled roughly, stressed out, sent through the mail, and neglected without losing their babies. Even once I saw a pregnant mouse who'd gotten dropped on the floor, lost for several days and then found again. She still had a healthy litter after being found. The little buggers are tougher than you'd think. But still, I don't pick them up much late in their pregnancies, just in case Happy

It's not really that sensitive, no. Surely really really manhandling a momma may injure her, which would make pregnancy and birth difficult. What you really need to watch out for is nutritional changes. Mice are pretty sensitive to these changes and could abort litters if their nutritional needs are not met.
