How to replace lost flying saucer hubs!
It's happened to us all. We have (or the mice have) somehow lost the little cylindrical white thing that sits on the axle and the flying saucer sits on it.
I just lost one and replaced with with 1/2-inch vinyl tubing (such as I use for my Euthanization Station). I cut a cylinder of the 1/2-inch vinyl tubing as tall as the missing saucer hub, and slit it down the side. I rolled it up and inserted it inside the space on the bottom of the saucer where the hub usually goes. Then I cut a small piece of paper and rolled it up and inserted it inside the hole in the middle of the rolled-up vinyl tubing as a shim so the metal axle could turn. It's a little lose, but it works just fine! I expect aluminum foil would work better for a shim. It'd last longer.
