Chocolate Tan Comparison
I apologize ahead of time for the crummy photo. I hate the updates to the camera feature they did on my smart phone! I had just gotten used to it!
Anyway, here is a top shot showing the difference in color of my 2 Tan lines, or branches. I need someone to help me get an under shot of these guys eventually, because there is a marked difference there as well. The lighter doe is from my original Tans and the darker buck is the result of an outcross to a pretty Cinnamon. The buck has had one litter already, and the one resulting Chocolate is just as dark, if not darker. For some reason ALL my Cinnamons/Cinnamon Tans appear lighter though. I am trying to cross him into my old line/branch to see if it improves their color as well, while I am also keeping a line/branch of just the original outcrosses. My does need to get some baby bellies already. Grrrrr.

Re: Chocolate Tan Comparison
For an undershot, just put them in that bin I see there on the floor, hold it above your head, and take a pic from underneath!
Re: Chocolate Tan Comparison
I tried but I need both hands for my camera! The few shots I got were so blurry from overhead lighting and inability to focus, you could hardly tell you were looking at mice. I'll have to go outside and have someone hold them above me, I guess.

Re: Chocolate Tan Comparison
Orrrr, you could put the bin on a highish shelf, overhanging the ledge, and tape it securely so it won't fall off. Then you can push the mice onto the portion you can take pix through and use both hands to take pix. If mice don't stay where you want them, put something in the bin that occupies the space you don't want them in. Something big like a tissue box or something, or tape up a cardboard divider.
Orrrr, you could prop the bin up a bit on its side on a flat surface and arrange a mirror so you can see their bellies and take a pix of the reflection in the mirror. You may need to actually prop the cage on the mirror, at an angle, see? Or work something out that works.
Orrrr, you got a glass coffee table? Put bin of mice on coffee table, skoot under table on your back, take pix.
Orrr, you got a sheet of something clear? Glass? Plexiglas? Big glass baking pan? (You can go buy a sheet of Plexiglas at a hardware store. Not too expensive.) Balance it between two chairs, put bin of mice on top, lie on your back underneath and take pix.

Re: Chocolate Tan Comparison
Lay on your back, hold the bin in your feet, then both of your hands are free to take pic. If you need more light, hold a flashlight in your mouth!

It must be fascinating to watch what you people do in your homes all day.

(Zia took this pic. Of course, it's on its side.)

Haha, I was going to suggest the iced tea glass! Some don't like to be in it, but it worked out for most!
I probably should have rotated some of the belly pics... oh well lol. After 82 pics were selected and uploaded, I was feeling kind of lazy! lol
