Signs of sickness *UPDATED w/pic*

Post by LittleSniffs on Fri Mar 09, 2012 11:35 pm

I have a mouse that seems to be sneezing. Is this normal? Or is it a cold?

He may be comming down with a URI (upper respiratory infection). Sad

The drug of choice is baytril, but if you do not have any you may have to take your little guy to see a vet and get some for him. Is he eating and drinking normally? Do you hear any harsh breathing sounds when he takes a breath? and how often is he sneezing and when did the sneezing start? Was his cage just cleaned ad what bedding do you use? lol - sorry for all the questions. It comes with my job description. Happy

She is eating and drinking ok, even acting normal. We just noticed it today while we had them out to play. She seems to be breating ok also, just making the sound.

The cage was just cleaned and we did switch bedding, so I'll go in the am and get the other brand to see if that helps.

Don't worry about all the Q's, I don't mind at all. Appreciate the info and help. She's sleeping right now, but when I see her get up, I'll pull her out to check her again.

I would give her a day or two and see if she is still sneezing. If the new beding was more dusty then the reg bedding she may just be sneezing from the dust. Happy

Thanks! Her bedding was changed today and her cage was cleaned with blech, just in case. She's still eating/drinking but being by herself, she's seems to be sleeping more.

As far as the medicine you talked about, I looked it up. Do you know the best place to get it and how much to get a mouse. Guess I need to get a scale!

It's been almost a month since I posted about Snowball. About a week later, kawmice was nice and sent us some goodies to help her get better. (THANKS AGAIN) She sounds SO much better, no sneezing for about 5 to 7 days now, but even with cream for her eye, it's still not looking so good. Her fur is also still very blah looking, no shine and looks more off color instead of white.

Wanted to see if there was any other advice for her eye. I would love to put her back in the mix with the other's, she's very active and just looks so lonely :-(

Here is a picture of her, it was taking maybe a week or so ago.

I got the cream from a friend that you told me about in your letter. But I have stopped since it was not so good trying to get it on her. I did it for 8 days I think, I know it was diffidently 7.

Her fur sorta perked up and looked better then the past 3 to 5 days it's looking bad again. Still no breathing issues by the sounds of it tho. So I'm wondering why it's like that.

Ahhh spoke too soon, she just sneezed :-(
