Successful Introduction! (Finally!!) Empty Successful Introduction! (Finally!!)

Post by doganddisc Wed Mar 21, 2012 5:59 pm

So I finally got my five girls to live in the same tank without trying to kill each other.

I originally had four of them together, but the pregnant one kept getting picked on (I didn't know she was pregnant at the time). Once I figured out what was going on, I separated them and put mama in a ten gallon and left the other three girls in my 20L.

Babies came and went. I kept one of the girls from the litter and tried to introduce everyone again. No dice. Fighting between Temple (my pied girl) and mama turned into bloodshed and I had to separate them very quickly.

Now the baby is a little older. I used a different technique of introducing everybody one at a time and then all together. That seems to have worked and they are all in the 20L together now. I've been watching them for awhile and no fighting. A few squeaks here and there but nothing like before. I am quite pleased :

YAY!!! It's a pain when they don't get along. The same thing happened to us with our second mouse. Do you have any pictures of your mice up? I been to your pet sitter site, but didn't see any :-( We have 12 pied mice I think. I've lost count we have so many LOL

LittleSniffs, did you ever get them to get along? I thought it was never going to happen here..

They've been at it on and off all night. I'm watching them though and there's no blood drawn this time so far. Definitely keeping an eye out for any issues.

I have pictures of my four of my girls here:

And my fifth girl, Honeybee. Her and her mama tend to be a bit more spoiled than the rest.. Happy

It took her some time but yes. The one who had the litter was the one who picking on the other mice to start fights. She's now in a cage with her 4 girls tho because we have so many girls, we got 2 more cages. But when we put her and the other cage together to 'play' she starts fights with her own kids! LOL

I'm watching a cage now because of fighting and I swear the one mouse knows it, she keeps staring at me! LOL

Cute mice, I love Honeybee! She's a cutie!!!

I'm glad to pick up the tip that introducing one at a time might be easier! I was thinking of waiting until Tully was ready with her weaned daughters to introduce them to my other two girls as it's been a bit nippy/squeaky but apparently not, haha.

As it turns out, this didn't work Sad Honeybee ended up covered in bites and I had to adopt Temple and her two (sisters?) friends out to Julee. Sad

Yeah, it sucks. I really would have loved to keep them but the fact that they didn't get along with my girls coupled with the fact that one of them was quite bitey and needed a lot of work with taming meant I just didn't have time to work with her. Julee is taking wonderful care of them instead Happy

I am so very sorry to hear that! At least they are with Julee now and she can work with them.
