Keepers from my January litters, and a couple show offs!

Post by Zia on Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:12 pm

I FINALLY got pictures up of all my mice that were the results of the litter boom I had back in January. My main goal is Black Tans, and I got a mixed bag of them for sure in terms of color quality. I’ve posted my keepers here, and several others are over on the thread I made to let a couple people pick out their mice from pre-arranged holds and such. I might keep a couple from the other thread too, but I don’t need to double post them lol.

After initially wanting to start up breeding more colors again as they popped up in my litters, I reminded myself to behave and am back to Black Tan, Black Pied, and just Black Self lol.

The first one, I have to show off because I love her so much. She is definitely the biggest success of this round of litters and will be treasured here forever both because she’s beautiful and has an awesome personality. All the mice in this round have names that relate to the show My Little Pony: Friendship is magic, and this girlie got the name Rainbow Dash:

And a couple blurry ones of her without the flash to capture her real color:

And this is her mom, a cinnamon doe from CSB. I never did get a pedigree on her, so I’ve been calling her Ladybird (even though that might not be right), but I thought Stina might want to see how gorgeous she is. She has a stumpy tail from an injury as a pinkie that you can’t see in the pic:

This is my pied carrier buck Discord. He’ll be bred back to his pied mom and to his pied carrying sisters to try to get the pied up and running here:

And his sisters Silver Spoon:

And Diamond Tiara:

My black tan doe Rarity:

Rarity’s Dam, GYPT Genevieve

I got three black girls from a tan x self outcross. KAW is getting one, and the other two are staying here:
Fleur-de-Lis

Fluttershy

Sweetiebelle

They also have a self black sister, Nightmare Moon. The flash washed out the color, but they’re actually all a really nice black:

Last new baby is the black tan doe Twilight Sparkle:

I do have some keeper bucks, but they’re in the other thread until Tiny and Gypsy have their pick (if any).

This is Twilight Sparkle’s mom, GYPT Madeline:

And one last show off. These are two girls who I bred. They were bred with the other does, but didn’t catch last round. They’ll be paired up with bucks very soon.

My pretty self x tan cross girl ZIA Mummer. She has the best disposition, even if her belly is pitiful:

And my beautiful, loved, and large ZIA Raven, a self black:

If I could get some more like Dash in future generations, I would be so happy!
Hopefully a few more generations of building up modifiers will get me there. I had to keep all the black tans I got this time around, but fingers crossed I'll be able to be more selective in future generations!

And I thought you might like to see them lol. I think everyone from their litters that I got from you is posted on this forum in one thread or another. Big smile

Thanks you guys! Big smile

I'm still so thrilled with Dash. Every time I take her out I'm caught off guard for just a second with how pretty she is. I know it's nothing like what they have overseas, but it is a step in the right direction for me!

Stina, Ladybird is such a sweet little thing to have around! Most of my guys are decedents of Hankey and they have inherited some of her more... adventurous qualities. It's nice one redhead in this place who is calm! lol

lol! The "adventurousness" is from the reds that jack imported...apparenty a lot of mice from the line are nutty....lol luckily i seem to be have been about to avoid most of the nuttiness in everythig i've kept...lol

Hi Zia, I am looking for a extreme black (I know next to impossible) But a Dark Self black would help my line. Would you have any available??? I would love one of your mice, they have great ears. Robin

Stina, that's what I've heard too lol. I wouldn't even say they're really *that* bad, it's just compared to my dopey mice from other lines, they seem like a handful lol.

Robin, I'd love to say I have something that I can send up to you, but I don't currently. Sad I'm fairly early in developing this line and don't have but just a few does myself, not even a good self buck yet! I have some travel that is in the early planning stages for this summer that might bring me up around your neck of the woods. I'll keep you updated if/when it happens. Happy
