Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
I too have a vet who works closely with me so I'm still in.
I have a quarantine room too so no worries.
Maybe just moving them freaked the poor dears out.
I've had a few that were sensitive to major changes like that.

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
Kawmice, you have really knowledgeable advice! That is true about moving stressing them out, I thought that myself. Also that is a really good idea to give a low dosage of baytril during a move. Do you three that are still interested want me to give them Baytril a certain time before the date of them leaving? If so what dosage is best, I use the liquid bird Baytril, Kawmice I know you were saying to use a lower dose, what do you recommend? I'm going to screen all of the mice over daily before then too and make sure they are 100% as well too. Kawmice what else do you recommend as a immune booster for them? I will remove lunalady and jullep from the reserved list. I have someone coming by today for mice that were available and aren't concerned about the issue I told them too, they said the same thing about stress.
Thank you
Regina

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
I updated the available list and figured out how to make the available bold so its easier to read, if anyone wants to reserve any let me know, I have someone who is suppose to come between 11-1pm, if I don't hear from anyone before then I'm letting them pick what they would like out of the bunch.
Thank you
Thank you
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
One mouse in the mice reserved avail tank is showing symptoms of a cold, Jay and I do not feel comfortable adopting out mice that are sick. I"m sorry for the trouble, this has come out of no where, we haven't had issues in months. All the blues that are for Lycrisa are in a separate tank, if I notice any of them w a cold I'll let you know. If anyone still wants me to hold them even though the situation let us know, if not we are going to cull the sick mice, we are cutting down our mousery as explained earlier due to my pregnancy.
The mice in the tanks that we are keeping haven't been sick at all oddly.

Oh man. I am soooo sorry!!!!!
I just pmed you. And Elena (mouselover1) is on the road and probably will not get this message right away. I believe she is still on the road. Just a heads up.

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
Yeah, a teen breeder near by doesn't care if they have a cold and still wants to adopt them, she said she has a room to quarantine them and has the baytril so at least we wont have to cull many of them. Only one showed symptoms in the bunch but still... How do I get ahold of mouselover1 then? Does anyone know?
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
I have no clue. Just pm her and wait for her to respond. I know last I talked to her she said that her phone did not have service most of the drive. It is worth a try.
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
Hi, all of the blues are reserved for Lycrisa, if she doesn't adopt them or all of them, I'll let you know Windyhill
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
We are going to give everyone Baytril, the breeders that have reserved if you want we can let you know how they are doing the next few wks, if none are sick I would think they'd be ok. Just let us know.
Thank you
So far they don't have symptoms.

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
I updated the list again, Jay dealt w the mice exchange earlier today, I was very sick and in bed. Please don't hold anything against me right now, I'm sick w a horrible bladder infection on top of being pregnant and the meds are making me feel horrible and sick. It all has been confusing w the mice since I can't think straight right now. I posted that if I didn't hear from ppl I was going to adopt them out, I'm getting pms from upset breeders that I didn't give them a chance but I don't have time to wait around, we are trying to downsize asap since I'm sick. I think that is very understandable. I've been updating the avail reserve list as mice get reserved or adopted. There are still some avail. What says reserved is reserved still. If you told me to take you off the list I did and the mice left today, I'm sorry but that is not my fault.
I'm really stressed right now too about being on meds while pregnant, I'm worrying if I'll have a miscarriage since I read about some ppl having their baby die from being on antibiotics. If everyone can give me a break and understand right now I'd really appreciate it! I'm just not with it right now!

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
Keep in mind that anyone getting these mice now, will not be able to bring any of their mice to RF unless they are kept in a separate building from your current mice and you change/shower after going doing anything with them. Also, do not bring any of these mice anywhere near RF, including the hotel, especially before the event. Even after though...with there being sick mice within the quarantine period for RF (whether or not they appear healthy now or by then doesn't matter) they really should not go anywhere near the event or hotel as it could put other people's animals at risk.
Btw, baytril can help with the symptoms of resp infections, but it doesn't always cure the underlying cause...so adopting any mouse that is showing respiratory symptoms can be very risky...even if you plan on treating it with baytril.

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
I was actually going to pick up everyone's mice from Regina after rodent fest so there would be no break in QT.
However, I was thinking things through and have decided to respectfully decline the mice. I hope everyone else who may still be getting your mice can find another way to get them. I do apologize to everyone for the inconvience.

Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
So is everyone canceling their reserves, I just want to confirm, I'm going to cull the mice that were near the one sick mouse, they arent showing signs but since they were exposed and were the mice that were adoption i don't want to risk keeping them here? Our mice haven't shown any signs in months. But like I said 3 mice that left developed symptoms when they left and 1 mouse here this week had symptoms. Stina so I have to cull everyone even though they aren't showing symptoms? I don't want to do that, we have 25 we really love that we were keeping for pets, the rest we were placing. If colds happen in any mousery how come we seem to be the only mousery that has trouble? Does anyone have any advice about this, we got mice from other mouseries that were sick too and that was how it started.
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
Also I did want to say in referring to Stinas post, the mice we have aren't showing any resp signs, it was just the one mouse out of all of our mice. ( the 3 i said that had left and got sick were over a year and half time period too)
Re: List of adoptable and reserved mice
At this time, the only thing for you to do, is to treat the mice you have, or cull them, unfortunately.
You should not be adopting out any mice when there is question about their health, picking them up after RF is also dangerous, because if there was something wrong with them, you endanger the mice that they come into contact with, even if they weren't brought into the show. (i.e, Christine's mice, and the mice belonging to the people she would deliver them to)
I think everyone here has made the right decision, to decline the mice at the current time.
I'm currently going to lock this thread, and you may start a new thread talking about the proper treatment of your animals that are left, in the health section
Thank you all for your understanding. If anyone has any questions, please PM, or email me, and I'll be happy to discuss your concerns.
Thanks!
