Introducing Sunny!
So, in September I contacted someone on Craigslist looking for a home for their Severe Macaw. I somehow talked her into allowing me to take him home for merely $100.00 with his cage and supplies.
Booger, wasn't very socialized, bounced from one home to another but originally grew up behind glass in a pet store. He is lovely even though he's pretty aggressive. I've worked with him every day since then and I can hand him treats, talk to him, make him dance, etc. From then on, I've wanted another parrot that I can play with and actually pet/hold.
So I've search since then, almost 6 months, looking for someone who would be willing to allow me to take in their unwanted parrot and give them a good home.
Two weeks ago I found an ad on Craigslist for a Salmon Crested Cockatoo. I emailed the guy, and apparently he wanted no money for his bird. He just wanted someone with large bird experience to take his bird and give him a great home.
So after 2 weeks of chatting back and forth, I was able to come by and meet Sunny and his owners.
He's beautiful, very friendly, needs some work, but begs for pets and love already! We're pleased to welcome him into our family
He came with his cage, play stand, food and toys, and him all free Which makes me even happier
Well, without further ado... Sunny!

Just completely wonderful! I should hire you to find me an inexpensive cockatoo, lol. I need to be thinking about a 'too in the next few years so that I will not have to put it in my will, lol!

I love cockatoos. They remind me of show girls.

LOL! This guy is already 15 and they only live around 40-50 years? So I won't have to will this guy to anyone, but future birds I'm sure I'll have to lol.
Seriously, just go on craigslist and scope out all ads for the bird you want. Email them and say something like "are you looking to make money or are you just looking for a good home for your ...." And go on to explain why you'd be a great home and end with a thank you.
Do it enough and you'll finally find someone
And casey, I have to get a pic of him all fluffed up. He TOTALLY looks like a show girl!
