Breeding Broken Merles Together? Empty Breeding Broken Merles Together?

Post by WindyHill Fri Apr 06, 2012 5:01 pm

I wasnt thinking when I picked out my mice from the feeder breeder.
I pretty much just grabbed colorful mice, whith out thinking the breeding though.

If I breed two broken merles together, will all I get be broken merles?
I have some that I beleive may be banded and some others that are broken.

All my breedings for awhile will be test breedings, since I have no clue what these mice have in their backgrounds.

You are thinking of piebald, not broken...pieband can make a banded looking phenotype...but there is also the banded gene, which is dominant.

Assuming they are piebald merles, then yes, you would get all piebald merles for offspring unless they are carrying c...in which case you'd also get albinos.
