Zero has a Boo Boo.
Hello all, happy holidays if you celebrate!
I found my dearest Spiny, Zero, yesterday with a large gash spanning his upper arm. He is happy, active, and eating. It was already dried when I found him. It's about an inch long! The skin is pulled back so I don't think I could get it to cover and heal that way. I think it was a wheel accident because his back foot is also swollen.
He is on antibiotic creme.
He's had Baytril.
He is seperated just in case it was a fight. On paper towels.
One of my old vets dosed down children's Tylenol for use with rats post-surgery. Does anyone know if this is truely effective for pain management, and how it is dosed?
The poor dear! Would a vet stich this or let it heal openly? I am debating if I should take him into town with me to the vets Tommorrow. He would be at school with me for about 8 hours. :/

I think it's probably to late to stitch up. The wound sounds like it has closed up naturally. I think if the edges are starting to scab up then it's too late to stitch.

Aww poor baby. I would say it's too late, I know in the human world once it's scabed up, then like candycorn said it's too late. Hope he heals fast.

I put Zero back in with his brothers tonight, his wound is healing nicely but he is acting like he is cold....shaking and slow. I think he needs to be cuddled. I know I am taking a risk but I don't want him to get so cold that he passes away from that.

I think that I have to put him down. He is shaking and cold and his wound opened up to include his arm. I do not think he will make it to be put under to stich.

I miss him so much. I did it yesterday morning. He was my very favorite little spiny and this situation sucked really bad!!!
