Could you help me with genetics?
I'm wondering the possible outcomes of two mice. I'd want to know probability of coat type, eye color, coat color.
The doe is a RY piebald, standard coat with pink eyes. The buck is dove self, long hair with pink eyes.
I do not know the parents but I know the siblings. The doe had 3 sisters who were standard coat, black eyed, black piebald and a sister who was long hair, RY piebald with black eyes.
I only know the buck had a brother who was dove piebald who was also long hair.
Does it make any difference if I know the siblings in predicting litters if I do not know what the parents were?

Re: Could you help me with genetics?
Hello there, yes it does help if you know the siblings.
Your female is: a/a e/e p/p Lgh/* since he sis was long haired, she has a good chance of carrying it (50% chance or 100%).
a/a is black
e/e is the RY changing the black to yellow
p/p is pink eyes
Lgh/* is non long hair
lgh/lgh is long hair
Your male is: a/a E/* p/p lgh/lgh (he is most likely E/E there is a small chance of him carrying RY )
So the out come would be (assuming that the male doesn't carry RY): All "Dove" and 50% standard coats and if the female dos carry long hair then 50% long hair. If she doesn't it would be 100% standard.
Assuming that the mom is a/a e/e p/p Lgh/lgh and dad is a/a E/E p/p lgh/lgh the babies genotype would be 50% a/a E/e p/p Lgh/lgh and 50% a/a E/e p/p lgh/lgh.
If this is confusing let me know. Good luck! And I hope she does carry long hair.

Wow thanks! That all makes sense. You explained it well.
One more question, could the buck carry the piebald gene if his dove brother was piebald?
I hope she carries long hair too!

Oh I'm sorry... for some reason I apparently have something against pied hahha.
Yes, add the s/s to her genotype. The male has a 50% or 100% chance of carrying pied (s/s) for now he is S/*. I hope he carries it (S/s).
