Can mice have seizure?
I wasn't home the first time but our mouse Snowball, who was sick before has had to me what looks like a human seizure about 20 minutes ago. It was horrible :-(
Is this possible?
Once again, the poor girl is in a cage alone, and she HATES this. I've put her in a smaller cage with softer paper bedding and not toys. I'm thinking about breaking and going to Petco (where we got her) and get her a friend at this point. With all the toys and having other mice in her cage I don't think I want to stick her back in with all that.

Oh wow. They can have seizures. Can you explain what happened? What did she do?
Is she still on the baytril? Is so, stop it for now.

I would also avoid adding another mouse to her cage until you are certain the seizures have stopped completely. Stress can induce a seizure and there is always stress involved when adding a new mouse. Plus you do not want to possibly expose her to illness from a new mouse or vice versa. So I would hold off on getting her a friend for now.
Re: Can mice have seizure?
Yes mice are prone to seizures for various reasons but vets don't generally treat mice for the control of them like they do in dogs. How long did the seizure last? What has her behavior like right after the seizure?

Poor thing I don't have any input other to say that I hope things get better for her soon!
Re: Can mice have seizure?
Thanks ladies.
She was rolling sideways, like what a alligator o if they were trying to be caught. Because I have experience working with special needs children and adults I knew not to touch her, I did clear the cage out of toys and mice asap while she was doing this. I want to say she did it maybe two times (started then stopped then started again) for maybe 20 seconds each time. I'm pretty sure she peed herself, she was yellow and smelled pretty bad. I picked her up as soon as I seen she was not going to do it no more and held her while petting her. I thought this would help calm her down and it seem to do. Once Logan got the cage ready for her, she ate. I had to go to work then but Logan said she's been acting normal.
To be honest, I was so freaked out that it's hard to remember. Plus having a crying kid next to me watching this didn't help matters :-(

Wow! Yes, whenever my mice do something like that I send my crying kid (my husband) out of the room.

Logan was flipping out. Snowball is one of his favorite's since she was the 3rd mouse I think we got. He was a big help tho taking stuff out nd getting the other mice out fast too. He's so hands on with the mice that I hate to not have him help even with stuff like this.
