Lots of Mice, desperately need a place to go

Post by tinyhartmouseries on Mon May 21, 2012 11:38 pm

I brought about 5 bucks and 20 does down from Rodentfest, 22hours in the car, for another member. They have just informed me that they are no longer interested in picking them up. pale

I am at my capacity with the mice I brought home for myself. I have literally no room for these extra mice now. I would hate to euthanize them because of this reason, as many of them are lovely show type and have great genetics. I have no idea what to do, my attempt at a good deed has left me with an incredible burden.

If anyone wants them, or wants to help transport them back to their original breeders, please speak up immediately. I'm at an angry loss and I don't know what to do.

I've got, at rough estimate,

2 tri bucks, one doe from Ann
1 PEW couple from Casey
Many Siamese/Himis, blues, from Cindy
Some pet angora does
one RY buck and doe with headspot
There are more....

A lot of people went to a lot of effort to get these mice down here and now I don't know what to do, I have literally no interest at all in pointed or tri, and I am so full right now that i don't know even where to keep these, and I can't invest in proper housing for them all. Please, if you can arrange transport for them, they are totally free.
Please help if you are able!

If someone can find transport back here I'd take them. Let me know!
Specifically tris and siamese but I have enough housing currently to house them here if you can get them here

Oh jeepers.

I wish I weren't so far away. I could use a good type-y pair! I'm guessing to ship to Canada would be a royal pain and really expensive (and likely not worth it for you for only a couple of mice).

If she can get them to me somehow, and you're sneaky, you can stick them in your pocket when you walk across the border lol

Hahaha! I'd be a dead giveaway with the sweat dripping off me. ;D No doubt I'd stick them down my shirt or something. : P I need my gosh darned license. Twenty-seven is way too old to be walking around with the learner's permit.

LOL! you need a passport to get across niagara falls crossing now. Unless you have a special license. In NY you can get an enhanced license to walk across the Canadian border.

I will see what I can do. I wish this person would pay to ship them to you Mouselover.

Edit,
if anyone is able to pay to ship them Laigaie's offered to do that. That is all I know to do right now.

I hate to ask really basic questions but simply Googling "shipping mice to Canada" isn't getting me anywhere. Given what you all went through to get them into the States, should I bother looking? : / (trying to get an idea of expense as a solo recipient)

I have no idea. I am so sorry. I was not prepared for this disaster and I don't know how much help I can be. :/

FWIW, it is really easy to get animals across the border into Canada.

I wish I could help. Sad

Oh, and to any of the breeders reading this, do I have permission to rehome to the best of my ability and discretion? Or do you want your mice back?

Shipping to Canada is roughly $500 if I remember correctly. I would have to check my shiping records. I am o my way to work but I can look for those tomarrow.

Delta Cargo did a really good job shipping mice to Baltimore from Iowa, and I think it cost only $130.

Delta is good. I prefer Continential since they have their petsafe program. It is the only airline carrier I use when shipping my mice, but they are a bit more expensive then some of the others. Not much more, but definately a bit more expensive. lol

If anyone wants to get their mice back and would like to attempt to bill the person who initially ordered them for their return, PM me for details. I am unable to help monetarily at all in this. I don't feel its my responsibility at this point to pay for a bunch of shipping costs, I hope everyone can understand that. I am just the cleaner at this point!

I want to thank everyone for the fast responses and helpfulness. I hope this works out.

$500! Yikes! I might have to stick to my pet store variety for now, haha. Still in university here (though I feel like Van Wilder :p).

Tiny, I would take them all back and rehome them if you could get them to me, esp. my two, who I actually have a breeding use for.

I think we're going to all have to get some money together. It should be too hard I would think. I could have them all shipped here, and it would be no trouble to get your mice to you from here, Ann. Happy

Then, since we have tons and tons of free space, we can house the rest until new homes are found.

Updates on my end, you guys decide what you want to do, of course, but I have a new pet mousery that is looking to get started in tri and typey mice. She's expressed interest in Ann's tris, Mouselover's tri buck, and a typey PEW doe from Casey. Seems to have ethics that follow my own.
I have a potential pet home for almost all of Cindy's does.

That just leaves an RY couple and a blue buck I'd bred for this home, but I can handle that, unless someone wants them.

Laigaie is also dealing with four bucks, a silver tan, a blue, a hairless, a texel, and a hairless carrier PEW doe. They are all from Lovestoread.

You guys decide, I am willing to do the work to get the mice into homes here if that's ok or Maggie's offered to ship them back. Neither of us can pay for anything. Sad

Someone has offered to donate $100 towards the cost of shipping!! Worship

If we can come up with the rest of the money, then I'll accept their donation, and we can get the ball rolling. Happy

OK. I think all money needs to be given to Maggie if this is what's decided on,she'll be the one doing the physical shipping.
If anyone is willing to give the new mousery one tri, I think that would make her happy too. Up to anyone.
