Creating the perfect "nursery"

As shocking as it is, during her very short stay with Tenant, Wendy is pregnant. Very. Pregnant. I had my doubts that it would happen, but it did. So heres the real question; What can I do to make her maternity tank more comfortable? I got a brand new 10 gallon so it doesnt smell like any of the mice. Pretty much my understanding of it is "litter. Food. Water." with no toys allowed. Shes been with her sisters her whole life, aside from going to be with Tenant for a few short days. Im worried she will get bored/lonely before the babies are born. Shes a very on-the-go mouse, constantly doing something, and Im concerned about her tank being so dull. I know she obviously cant have a wheel or anything like that, but is there anything I can give her to make the remainder of the pregnancy less stressful? Her absolute earliest due date is in 5 days, So I plan on moving her to her private tank either tonight or tomorrow. Someone mentioned to me that when mice are preggerz, its a bad idea to even have a food dish in the tank, as they can push the dish on top of the litter and kill them. Any thoughts on this? What do I do with the food? Also, is it normal for mice to just kind of... explode during pregnancy? Day before yesterday, she really didnt seem much bigger... I was pretty certain the breeding didnt take. Then yesterday, oh my god, its like she swallowed a whole other mouse!

I can't speak for anyone else and I'm still very new to breeding myself but I don't see any issues with having a food bowl and toys in with a pregnant mouse. Generally mom seems to be very good about keeping the litter clean and safe (I imagine instinct would tell them that putting something heavy on their babies would kill the babies).

My very pregnant girl has two wood alphabet blocks to chew on and a large ceramic bowl (I gave her a wide one so she can still sit in it- she is HUGE). I'm pretty sure a wheel is okay too, though it depends on the type of wheel. I can't imagine there would be anything wrong with a medium sized flying saucer. I could be wrong though.

And yes, ballooning up is completely normal. I wasn't even sure my first mouse was pregnant until she had babies (I didn't breed her- bought pregnant from Pet Smart), but the second pregnant mouse (my breeding) I've owned went from looking like a normal mouse to a sack of potatoes in the span of about a day.

It's perfectly OK for pregnant mice to exercise and play with toys! Include lots of warm, fluffy bedding (like ripped up tissues) on your list.

Good to know! I read online that the wheel is bad for them during the last week of pregnancy, that having anything in there could kill the babies, etc. Shes a much happier girl now that Ive given her some toys. She was seeming pretty miserable there for the last 12 hours.

Wow, I hadn't come across that. Good thing too, haha. Tully's tank has a number of chew toys, her big "tree house," a bowl, and I tossed in a small paper bag and toilet paper rolls for her to chew up. Everything gets chewed up for nesting. Even the rolls! ;D I just was told not to move anything when she's just given birth.

Oh, a wheel could be dangerous to babies or mom, but a saucer is absolutely safe.

Where are everyone getting their saucers? Not a single pet store is my county carries them! Ive looked online and cant find any. For now, my female is ready to pop-her tummy is twice as wide as the rest of her. I call it golfball syndrome. Lol. She has a few toys, but is spending her time nesting. The smart little girl built her nest around the water bottle so the spout comes down into her nest!
