My Cat Ichigo Empty My Cat Ichigo

Post by kawmice Sat May 05, 2012 12:34 am

I am so upset....... Sad

My cat Ichigo is a sickly cat. She is about 10 months to one year old. She has severe allergies and is on special food even. She also has scaring on her one eye from constant persistant eye infections as a kitten. She has been to the vet many times and has even had a severe allergic reaction to a cat collar that she had on for less then a full day. Before rodent fest I noticed that she may be pregnant. I never had her spayed because she was always sick from a URI or allergies and on Pred, which slows down or prevents healing. My vet was booked up and she was schuduled to be spayed today. The last few days she was obviously pregnant when I felt her. She was pregnant by her full but older brother.

Knowing she is a sickly cat and pregnant by a sibling I brought her in to be spayed. My baby needed a transfusion after surgery and everything. Sad She may even have to stay at the vet till monday. I am beating myself up about the whole situation. I know I made the right choice for her and the kittens health but I am just so very upset. Sad I fully trust my vet and know she is in good hands. The vet tech part of me says she is fine and I am calm, but the mommy part of me is screaming and very very upset to the point of tears. I love my baby.

Sorry to hear that. Hope everything turns out okay. Has she been tested for FIV/FeLV?

She was tested negative as was all my cats. Since I rescue everyone gets tested right away and gets their shots before I add them to my house with my own kitties. She is just a lemon. Lol
And thanks. Happy I called the vet this morning and was told she was doing great but they are keeping her at least till tomarrow. The house is empty without my baby. I miss her. Sad

I cant imagine living with an intact male cat. Get that guy chopped quick!
You did the right thing for her though. Nursing kittens might have been too much for her.

Thanks candycorn! I have a few intact cats. Fosters who never left and my two boys , one I missed the appointment cause I got stuck working overtime. Sigh- with everything I have been through lately things got pushed to the back burner. They had to. Now I am greying everyone taken care of. Just slower then I would like.

I know I made the right decision for her, but I feel horrible. Her and her brother sage were not fixed due to health issues. she was always the worst though. I have spent a fortune in vet bills especially within the last three months. At least I have an awsome job and an awsome vet. Happy I would do anything for them.

Awww, poor baby. It's so hard to deal with your babies being hurt opposed to someone else's. Usually if it's a critter I don't know I can handle it without freaking out, blood, guts, gore, all sorts of things. When it's my own personal pet all that calm detachment goes out the window.

Zia- I am exactly the same way! When my vet called and said she needed a transfusion I nearly broke down on the phone. Keep in mind that I do blood transfusions all the time at work but it is so different when it is your baby. I hope she can come home tomarrow. I miss my baby so much.

Thanks for all the support guys! Mouse

So glad she is doing better. I cried for 4 days when we had tp put down my lil man last week. Pets becoe apart of our families, they are like our kids. So its understandable that you were upset. Hugs babe.

Thank you Cheri! You are so right- they become our kids. I don't have human kids and no man likes me. (Lol) I am alone at home except for my babies. They are my kids. I love them all so much. I am so happy she is back home where she belongs. Happy

And I am again so sorry you lost one of yours. Sad I know how hard it is.
