Beige Merle Empty Beige Merle

Post by Love2read Fri May 25, 2012 11:38 pm

Has anyone ever gotten a Beige Merle before? If so, do you have any pics?

I got a Beige Merle doe in one of my recent litters and I'm curious to see what she'll eventually look like. Her siblings(3 Black Merles and a Blue Merle) are all just now having their first molt and their markings are beginning to develop. I'm so excited! This is my favorite time when breeding Merles!

Here are pics of the Beige Merle girl as of today:

She almost looks like a BEW at the moment, but you can see a little bit of beige coloring on her head. She was beige with a bit of mottling(from the Merle) as a baby, but I think she's roaned out alot and her molt is making her look weird. Both of her parents are Merles, so there is no doubt in my mind that she is indeed a Merle.

I'll be sure to post more pics when her markings settle in and, hopefully, become visible again!

I hate seeing a thread with no comments, especially on a beautiful girl! Congrats. Happy

She's very pretty. It's hard to see her other colors, at least on my screen. pooey

Yeah, she pretty much just looks like a dirty BEW in person too, lol.

I'm hoping that her babies will be a bit more impressive. tongue Due to having to cull all but one of my Merle does(and she won't breed) over the past couple of months I'm keeping every single Merle doe I get so I won't lose the line. So even though I'm no crazy about her "invisible" markings I'm still going to keep her.

I'll admit though, I was really hoping that her Merle markings would become more obvious after her first molt. Sad

Here are some more recent pics of her after she and her siblings had their first molt:

I have such a hard time visually distinguishing Beige versus Ivory since both can range so much in color. Throw Chocolate in and you have my main headache in the mouse room and notebook at the moment.

Pretty girlie though! I have minimally marked pied and splashes similar to that who drive me up the wall. Happy

She looked beige when she was a baby, but lightened as she got older, I assume it's because she roaned out. The lines carry both Beige and Ivory, but the Ivory I normally get look like BEW. They're only ever-so-sightly creamy when held next to a PEW. This girl was much darker then my Ivories as a baby, which is why I'm assuming she's Beige. Is there something I could pair her with to find out which one she is for-sure?
