Irish Spotting?
Can anyone explain irish spotting to me? I have heard it referred to as dominant, and I don't know what that means. I am getting irish spot babies from parents I could have sworn were S/S.

Irish spotting, or 'berkshire' markings are just a form of s/s (piebald).
Here's a bit of info on them: http://www.hiiret.fi/eng/breeding/varieties/berkshire.html
We're also standardizing them in the UMC!

I saw a post at ML where Roland said that Irish spotting was s influenced by k factors. Perhaps you should PM Roland and ask him your question.

Well, if anyone wants a few, my RY litters are just full of them. I guess some parents snuck an S/s gene past me!
What makes it show up in leu of the regular piebald type spotting I've seen more often?

Re: Irish Spotting?
I do know of a dominant spotting gene in europe and the UK. I have seen them but not owned them personally. I am also not familar with the gene in general so I really can't offer any genetic insight on them. lol
