Hullo from central NC!
Hi everyone,
My name is Ash. =) I'm not new to the mouse community in general -- I've been beboppin' around forums for the past eight years-ish -- but this is my first time posting here, so hi there! While I've kept mice in the past and used to breed Siamese specifically, right now the only mice in my life are three little big-box pet store rescues being lovingly cared for/spoiled rotten by my housemate and myself. Here's my favorite -- a little satin longhair (or very bad angora) buck, heaven knows what he's hiding under that coat of his but he looks BEW:
He likes to sit under my thumb and brux. Such a sweetheart!
All my "nice" show mice and sweet babies from better stock have long since died. =( I'd love to get into breeding again if I can get a foundation of friendly, healthy mice starting out, but around here I don't reckon there are many breeders or mouseries. (I would be happy to be surprised!) I'm definitely interested in making the drive up to Rodent Fest in April, though -- I hope to see some familiar faces there, and maybe pick up some great mice if anyone's willing to adopt to me! I would also be willing to facilitate and help out with mouse trains in or around the NC area. I drive a gas-sipping Honda and I'm not afraid to use it.
Miscellaneous other info about me: I'm 25, I work at a university -- besides mice I share my apartment with a Dachshund, a cat, and a Lady Gouldian Finch. I'm friendly and I can talk about mice forever. Pleased to meet all of you! =)

Glad to have you! Odd to find black-eyed white in a pet shop mouse, but it seems like they've got most everything these days. Don't know who's in your area, but I know quite a few of us will be going to RF. What varieties are you looking for, ideally?

Laigaie: I'm on the lookout especially for pointed mice with nice type. Are x-brindles any more common than they were a few years ago? I loved those...
I'd also be delighted to get in on the imported Reds that came in a while ago, but I understand I'd probably have to wait a while for that. So yes: pointed mice! X-brindles if there's any chance of them.

Gi. Actually the importes reds are breeding very well and I can probably pass you some of those.
Xbrindles might also be available here locally. I go down as far as newport news williamsburg virginia about once a month if you can journy that far north.

Wow, really? That would be about ten different kinds of awesome! Newport News and Williamsburg are about 3.5 hours from me. I'd make that drive in a heartbeat for some awesome mice -- it'd make for a nice day trip. =) And if the weather was warmer I'd be thinking roller coasters were on the menu too...
Would you mind if I PM'd you and asked about your experiences with the reds? Also, provided we ever do meet up in VA (will I see you at RF too?), anything I can bring you from down here?

Sure throw me a PM anytime. And yes. I will be at Rodentfest. Nothing I am after that you can get down south at the moment that I don't already have reserved really. But I can tell you plenty about the reds and I have 3 does set up now in hopes of having reds for everyone.
