bucket bins for sale!
I've been making bins for my bucks out of 5 gallon buckets. Would anyone else be interested in them? They are light-weight, stackable, they could be hung up by the handles to save space. The wire inside is one solid piece and it acts as a sort of support/roll cage for the bucket. My small dogs got ahold of one once and were unable to either crush it or get it open. There's plenty of climbing surface and ventilation (but obviously you would not want to use such a bin in a drafty place). The lid has a square meshed opening useful for hanging toys or handing in treats. Here are pics of one of my prototypes (the top is a bit dusty, I've been using it for a year or so):
The bucket in the pic has large gauge mesh because I specifically made it to house my big bucks (and I happened to find that mesh in a junk pile at work). But my future buckets will have the smaller, 1/4" mesh so the buckets will be appropriate for smaller mice. The mesh is attached to the bucket with florist's wire. If anyone is interested in buying one, I'm asking $12 a piece for them ($6.60 is for material, the rest labor). They wouldn't come with the water bottle or toys shown in the pix. You could pick them up locally or at RF. Please let me know if you have questions or suggestions about the buckets, also if you need tips on making them yourself
