Choo Line quandary
I am re-establishing my typey chinchillated tricolor line because of cancer. My breeding goal is a/a c^ch/c^ch s/s Spl/*.
I have three typey mice:
Valentino (buck) is a/a c^ch/c^e S/* (probably S) Spl/*
Valentina (doe) is the same.
Abe (buck) is A/a c^e/c^e s/s Spl/*
Which would give me the better thing to do:
A) Valentina x Valentino, then cross an F1 to Abe.
B) Valentina x Abe and cross F1's.
I see A as more sure and B as less sure. What do people think?

Both...then pick the best babies and cross them back.

Re: Choo Line quandary
Wow! You mean they both work equally as well? But what about adding agouti (Abe) earlier vs. later, for needing to breed it out. Wouldn't it make sense to "fix" the c^ch's first before doing that?
Re: Choo Line quandary
Adding it earlier gives you a sooner chance to breed it out, and it's easier to determine for sure that you've got cch/cch on an agouti (imo) than on non-agoutis.
