Double brindle pics!
I was able to get pictures of The Mouse in Question (TMIQ), supposed double brindle (A^vy/a, Mo^br/*) next to her A^vy brother, Macbeth, in the sunlight today. I SEE THE ORANGE ON HER in these photos! Do you?
To show you what their entire bodies look like:
I even see orange on TMIQ's nose. When her color was first coming in, her head was more orange than the rest of her.

Re: Double brindle pics!
I also wanted to say that I am starting a Double Brinde Line. I plan to breed TMIQ (pronounced "te-MICK") to Macbeth and try to breed the orange stripes in more deeply.
Question for Stina: TMIQ's whiskers have straightened out! But then, Titania's whiskers are all straight, too. Do kinked Mo^br whiskers usually straighten out as the mouse grows older?
(Was thinking, outside of the orange striping, TMIQ's coloration is very similar to Mrs. Beach's, though there are more dark areas than light. Awwww!)

I've noticed that for the most part, Mo^br whiskers straighten as they mature. Not necessarily completely straight though. There may still be a kink at the very tip. I'm so blind, I have to use a maynifying glass!

Re: Double brindle pics!
TMIQ did not clasp her feet, and neither did her A^vy brother, Macbeth, and neither did her fuzzy brindle sister, Light Brindle...but neither did her mother, Titania, who is certifiably Mo^br! So maybe it's an inherited strength, just like Skinny Boy's non-obese A^vy gene.
Gypsy, I'll have to check the ends of TMIQ's whiskers with my magnifier. Thanks!

No problem! I'd be even more lost without mine sometimes. I hate getting old.

Re: Double brindle pics!
you do need an updated pic :-P
I missed this thread originally...but yes, their whiskers can, but don't always, straighten out. The foot clasping thing seems to basically be a myth.....a lot of them don't do it. Someone from the UK was just saying that on FMB the other day too....that her x-brindles never clasped their feet together any more often than any other color.

Re: Double brindle pics!
Updated pix of TMIW (The Mouse in Question) and her A^vy brindle brother, Macbeth, as of today:
This one really shows her orange stripes well!
I can still see her orange hairs, most easily around her butt, but some in between her shoulders and around the center of her back. Yes, and even on her face. Daylight would do her better justice.

Re: Double brindle pics!
Yeah! Double brindle isn't too spectacular (except when the orange stripes are showing), but at least I know what one looks like, now. I wonder if it would be worth my while to breed her towards double brindles with orange stripes that are more orange? This IS supposed to be the Brindle Empire, you know! I also think I should probably breed her once to something that is not brindle, just to prove that she had both x-brindle and A^vy brindle babies and verify once and for all that she is a double brindle. (I was thinking that something could be Golden Monkey, and I'd have another chance at a red x-brindle, but then I realized that if her brindle babies are undermarked, there is no way I could prove she had A^vy brindle babies.)
