Pink-Eyed Mudd?
I've been playing with Mudd for a little while now. I want Beige or Coffee, as I am trying to isolate c^e. I can't tell you why except I just like the color. Chocolate has popped up, mock PEW has popped up, pink-eyed Ivory, et cetera. No big deal, I've been going with the flow. Well, now I have these really dark Mudd-like pink-eyed mice. WTH? Wouldn't pink-eye dilute Beige or Coffee to a lighter color, or am I being "special"? These Fuzzy girls are the only examples I have, since I have been culling all pink-eyed mice with standard or Satin coats from this "line", as I didn't need them. I'm also isolating the Fuzzy from the standard/Satin coats in this group. Again, I just want to.
Here are my little odd balls, both out of a PEW (probably and obviously mock PEW) Fuzzy doe and an Ivory Piebald Fuzzy buck:
Bloody Mary's doe #1
Bloody Mary's doe #2
I like doe #2's coat. In person it's a wispy afro.

I think I need to put them side by side a Beige, Coffee, Dove or Champagne.....

Re: Pink-Eyed Mudd?
Now, let's look at this genetically. Mud is...c^ch/c^e, which is kind of the color of a Hershey's special dark chocolate bar on my mice. Dilute that with p/p and you just may have the color you have. I believe I read somewhere that the lighter c-dilutes dilute more to a greyish color and the darker ones (like c^ch) dilute more to a brownish color, so that may be where the brownish tinge is coming from.
Re: Pink-Eyed Mudd?
No c^ch here, just c^e/c^e. I had imagined that PE c^e/c^e would be lighter than BE c^e/c^e, regardless of b/b.

Re: Pink-Eyed Mudd?
But you said you were breeding mud! Mud is c^ch/c^e, isn't it? And c^e/c^e is beige.
Ohhhh, you're now going to tell me Mudd is the name of the mouse you've been breeding!

LOL. Great comment.
Re: Pink-Eyed Mudd?
Correct! Mudd NOT Mud! c^ch/c^e is Mock Chocolate, much darker with no need of even having Chocolate present.
These gals are Beige with Chocolate and apparently PE to boot. Mudd #1 and #2. I am getting reference pix, I swear! lol

Alright, here's a pic of my Beige or Coffee Fuzzy doe. She's in mama mode so she wouldn't hold still at all but you can at least see her color, though you can't really see her reverse points. The darker areas on her are from the water bottle. She got wet when I was trying to catch her, though I wiped most of it dry. Anyway, this is the Beige/Coffee with black eyes that I am used to getting. To see a darker color on the pink-eyed versions confused me. lol
The litter I have now is out of this girl and their sire is an Ivory Fuzzy buck. SO the only c-dilutes they should have are c^e and c, right? Well, 3 out of 6 are PE (as were all the culls) so yes, I have c-p linkage indeed.
