What are the odds!
Ack! I recently had a litter of tans out of two of our black tans, both of whom carry blue. I removed all but one of the male pups (the male was reserved already), and what are the odds, but ALL SIX of the girls are blue. The buck, naturally, is black. If I wanted blues, I'd've bred the blues first! Of course, now my blue tan does, who were bred to the same buck, will produce all blacks, right? I guess it will come out the same in the end, but UGH! Statistics.

Oh! I forgot about posting this! It turned out that some of the seemingly blue babies colored up, and were actually black! It was still overwhelmingly one-sided, but the two black does just weren't... as black? as their buck brother.
Their blue tan aunties had their babies while I was in Baltimore, and the combined litter is... four. One with pink eyes! I'm certainly pleased with the smallish litter, especially since one of the aunties didn't make it through labor. She had been absolutely huge, so no big surprise.
