Things Moderators/Admins can and cannot do
Some people look at mods as scary authority figures who you can't talk to the same way as everyone else. . .
Here, being a mod or admin simply means that we're regular users/members, who clean up the forum. We're not scary, we're not mean, we will NEVER take advantage of you!
If you ever see a mod acting inappropriate, please report it. Mods have no special rights to behave badly, any more than regular users.
Things mods/admins can do
Approve user registration
Ban members
Edit comments/threads/posts of other users
Lock threads
Make announcements
Ask that a thread be moved back on topic
Ask that a certain topic be avoided (if it is innapropriate)
Give out warnings to people breaking the listed rules
All of these things cannot be done on a whim. If one mod/admin thinks a member needs to be banned, for instance, it needs to be decided by the whole team, and not just one person. If a topic is locked by one mod, you have the right to petition to have it un-locked. If you feel you have been treated un-fairly LET US KNOW! We strive to be as fair as possible to everyone, and we're human too, we make mistakes.
Things mods/admins cannot do
Edit people's posts for no reason
Delete people's posts for no reason
Delete their own topics without contacting an/another admin
Be rude, or disrespectful to any members
Violate any of the rules put in place on the forum
Delete members without consulting an/another admin
Mods and admins are not above the rules. We only have a team of 3 people right now, so it's very easy to keep everyone in check. But as the forum grows, we're going to need more people to take care of the duties. This is why you can govern yourselves as well as the mods can.
If you see someone, mod or member, doing something that violates the rules, then please contact a moderator who will see to it ASAP. Please do not confront people on your own, as it will only cause trouble.
I hope this helps clear some things up. I just want everyone to know that this IS a democracy, and we will never take advantage of you!
Long live TMC!

Also, moderators here will NEVER use their authority to prove they are right.
And we will NEVER threaten to ban someone for disagreeing with us!

I have a question. Has this happened elsewhere? I know on chin forums there is a few nice pages and then one that can be really mean. Same thing?

Well I like it here. I don't feel like a complete good asking things and I don't get snarky answers. Yay! Glad I found yas.

And if we plan on deleting something that doesn't belong in a particular section or in a particular thread, it will be copied and pasted into a PM to you, so you don't have to TYPE IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!!! :-D

Re: Things Moderators/Admins can and cannot do
Yes! I hated when that would happen on another forum. You spend a bunch of time typing a post, accidently post it in the wrong section, and the mods just delete the whole thing, rather than move it, or copy it in a PM and tell you to move it! @-@
