What is he? suggestions please

This little buck is the result of a cross between one of my Red does and a PEW buck. I'm assuming one if not both of the parents carry "Tan" as I have 5 red sisters all were mated to this same buck and I have had a mixture of colours; Chocolate Tans, Self Chocolate, Argente, Dove Tan, and a few like this buck.

The reason for the cross was to improve type in my Reds so any suggestions from the above, which would be any use in putting back to the Red's? would be great.

Is it possible he's a sooty recessive yellow? One of my babies looks a lot like him. That said, her mother is an RY (I'm not sure if red is a different gene).

Not a recessive yellow since these mice came from pet stores in the UK.

So he is the tan and one of his parents must have been but you could not tell because of their top coat genes affecting the tan.

Uh, call me crazy but wouldn't you get at least a few reds in any pairing?

Hmmm...But isn't sable a umbrous red with tan? Ay/at B/* U/* according to http://www.hiiret.fi/eng/breeding/genetics/A-y.html . And since he did produce more exactly like himself...those would be the reds.
