Hey! These are my two 6 week old angora bucks, and they have really improved in the last week. I am hoping someone here can evaluate their coats so far. I am aware that color and type are far off of what they should be.

Last week-

This week!

Such a constantly cheeky face.

Too light chocolate, but a suprise

I know the pics are low light (any suggestions?) and fuzzy from these wiggleworms, but I did include a few of each boy so maybe you can gather a feel for each boy's coat. I am leaning toward liking the black tan's coat more but the choco appears to still be molting.

Also, I need names!!! Big smile

Your black buck has a much better angora coat that the lighter buck.
The lighter buck almost fits the standards for a long hair, in the UMC.

Both could use length, but density looks good especially on your black buck. The black buck also has a much nicer even coat, although there are a few places where it could be improved, like behind the ears.
Here are the standards:

Angora - Coat should be as long as possible, dense, and even in length. The hair should be fine and very soft in texture.
go/go or lgh/lgh

Long hair - Coat should be smooth, glossy and soft. Guard hairs should extend as far as possible from the base coat. Guard hairs should be soft and whispy in texture.
go/go or lgh/lgh

If you're looking for a suggestion on which to pick for breeding angora, I would strongly favor the black buck for that. Happy

Isn't that good to know! I do also like the black tan, even though he's been a bit smaller the whole time.
I wonder what makes the difference between a Lh and an angora, is it undercoat perhaps? As far as his ears go, is the hair too long as whispy?

I am pleased because both boys have longer coats than their father/grandfather--it's improving slowly, anyway. I might post again when they are 4 months, fully grown.

The difference standard wise, is that the coat on a long hair must be short and standard underneath, with long wispy guard hairs. Whereas an angora is expected to have an evenly wispy coat, which is long all over. Happy

And yes, the black buck has got a bit too much wisp behind the ears. Though, it may be exaggerated because it is also a lighter colour.
