Hipsebah is pregnant!
At last, Hipsebah (c^e/c^h brindle tricolor, high white) is pregnant by Mr. Saturday Dance (c^e/c^e satin tricolor)! At this time she is estimated to have 14 babies on Feb. 22nd. Among these babies will be the first beige brindle tricolor(s) of Mrs. Beach's Brindle Empire!
Excited!!!!!!!

Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
(Lotta excited pink mice in this thread!) From her sudden 2g increase today, I am thinking Hipsebah might deliver as early as Feb. 20. That's Monday! Shoot! And I'll be in Pennsylvania, helping me dad! I'm actually about to leave for PA for a day trip to take him to a doctor. No time to go over Hip's numbers and straighten this out. Hope to have time Saturday. The genetic odds are 1-4 beige brindle tris in this litter. I am also breeding her sister, Lara, who only carries s, to the same male, Mr. Saturday Dance (whose spotting pattern is so wonderful).
Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
She gained 3g today! Very like her mom, Supergirl. Lots of big gains at the end. Forgot that when I made original projection. Looking more like 10 babies, now.
Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
Hipsebah's numbers confirm that she will deliver tomorrow, Weds., 2/22, my first predicted due date. Her numbers are very interesting. Looks like nine babies at this point.

Awe! I was hoping for Mardi Gras babies. I guess I will have to settle for Ash Wednesday babies instead.....

It's so funny how everyone gets excited for mouse babies! Most people think I'm a dork when I start talking about our mice! LOL

Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
LittleSniffs, you are in mouse culture here! Go ahead! Be yourself!
Hipsebah's numbers were so unusual. They indicated a D/R two digits higher than any other mouse in my study and I didn't believe it so cast my prediction with a lower one. Hipsebah went ahead and had only four babies! She had an extremely high personal weight gain so that less of her total gain was babies. (D/R predicts that.)
The babies weighed an average of 2.25g at birth (litter weight divided by number of babies). This was just before 3:00 a.m. There had been no babies yet at 12:30 a.m. This morning the four weigh 2.8g, 2.7g, 2.4g, and 2.0g. I'm holding onto the 2.0g until the colors come in in case it is the beige brindle tri. There is only a 12.5% chance of a beige brindle tri and with only four babies my chances are greatly reduced. Besides, 2.0 is larger than most babies born recently in the Brindle Empire. Hipsebah's mate is from the Victorian Line which is beige tris bred for type and size, so I was expecting rather large babies.
Hipsebah is a very calm, attentive mother and the babies are all doing extremely well.

Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
Some black came in on one. All babies are either c^e/c^e or c^e/c^h, so that one is splashed. It can’t be A^vy (or the splashed part would be orange, not black), so it must be a beige tricolor or colorpoint beige tricolor. Another baby is showing a grayish smudge on its head. It miiiiight be an overmarked brindled spot. The black of the brindled area would be coming in about now. The other two babies are just pink. Orange brindle is one of the very last colors to come in, so I have to wait! Also, beige is very late to show. Oh, the suspense!
All babies are s/s and very probably high white, so I will have to search for their colored “spots”.
Leaving for PA to help my elderly father tomorrow morning. Not back until late Monday night. Woo, what I'll see then!

Friday, I had a co-worker tell me that I am a very interesting person since I was hand feeding my orphaned babies. Not everyone understands the joy of mouse babies...

Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
Back from PA. No orange yet! There was a 50% chance of A^vy. Is it possible I didn't get any? I'm figuring since they're all very high white, perhaps I can't see the orange parts. I should wait until they grow up and see who becomes obese!
Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
Here are the bubs, Day 8. Left to right, Bub 1 (doe with the black near her eye), Bub 2 (doe), Bub 3 (buck), and Bub 4 (buck).
50% of this litter is supposed to be brindle, and I don't see any orange!

Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
Thanks for your sympathy! Is it possible for genetics to freak out this way?
Re: Hipsebah is pregnant!
To me, bub 3 appears to be broken brindle.
