My breeding goal is A^vy/* c^ch/c^ch s/s Spl/*. I've been working on breeding a/a c^ch/c^ch s/s Spl/* to cross into my brindle line and now have a/a c^ch/c^ch self babies and a/a c^ch/c^ch s/s babies. c^ch/c^ch is so dark, will I be able to tell if they are splashed?

You can generally still see it, at least on black base mice b/c they are not *quite* black black where they are diluted

How can I tell if s^ch/c^ch is splashed? 2013-03-09_22-38-41_296-1

She's a Splash Chinchilla. Wink You can see the markings alot better when they're babies, but you can still see them a bit now that she's all grown up.

That mouse is splashed?......that looks like moulting. splashes on an agouti based chinchilla would be normal agouti colored and very obvious b/c you would have the orange/tan barring on the hairs int he splashed areas

What would the genetic code for a Blue Agouti-based Splash Chinchilla be? As far as I know, mom doesn't carry Blue. She's a pet store mouse(believed to be Argente Creme) and hasn't produced anything that would indicate that she carries Blue. The male I paired her with carried Blue.

Wow. My babies are browner black than that. Oh, I hope they're not c^ch/c^e! They were the darkest in the litter (parents are c^ch/c^e x c^ch/c^e) so I assumed they were c^ch/c^ch. ooooooo And they are getting lighter as their fur grows in. Still waiting to see splashes, though. Mom was definitely splashed.

Ann, her mouse is agouti based...yours are a/a and won't look anything like that!

Nicole, blue agouti based splashed chinchilla would be A/a^t (chinchilla as a color is fox) d/d c^ch/c^ch Spl/* ....A/* d/d c^ch/c^ch Spl/* would be chinchillated blue agouti splash or splashed chinchillated blue agouti (whichever way you prefer to word it). But blue agouti is much less brown than regular agouti.

I guess it could certainly be possible. Her mom is from a pet store, so she could carry anything. I just never got anything from her to make me thing that she carried it.

She had her litter recently, so if she's Blue Agouti based then I guess I'll know soon enough. Wink

Whew! Thanks, Stina! I still want to post pix of mine just to make sure, since I have been negotiating to adopt them out as c^ch/c^ch. One of them is agouti and doesn't look like loves2read's. It looks like his father, though, and perhaps he is umbrous. Cindy said the father, Choo Choo, is not umbrous but molting, but still his entire topside is black.

Update: These babies have become much "blacker" over the past few days, and I have one agouti in each litter.
